Demain, dès l’aube
by From Overseas & zakè October 4, 2023 160g Opaque Maroon 2LP Set + Download Card 160g Audiophile Black 2LP Set + Download Code About___ ‘Demain, dès l’aube’ is a quietly powerful collaboration between From Overseas and zakè with a beautiful stillness at its center. The repetition of these arrangements comforts and lulls, while offering plenty of calm instances. The arrangements on Demain, dès l’aube were intentionally written to ebb and flow seamlessly, slowly converging en masse. A stately set of primarily long-form arrangements that burgeon with unhurried celerity, exemplifying patience while displaying meticulous attention to the finer details. Creating an abundance of short vignettes, the duo took their favorite sounds and created foundational loops for these solemn arrangements. They expanded on these short loops with intentional reshaping and expansion of the initial sounds by introducing and converging various guitar parts, tape processing, and synthesizer work. The richness of these long-forms are evident and delicately glide along in a timeless journey. Ash
by zakè & City of Dawn August 11, 2023 160g color LP + Download Card 4-Panel Wallet 2CD + Download Code About___ American ambient masters zakè (a.k.a. Zach Frizzell) and City of Dawn (a.k.a. Damien Duque) return with a mesmerizing follow up to last year's "Agape". The music the two create together reflects the expansive landscapes of their native Texas and Indiana. Slowly unfolding melodies that seem to rise like the sun from a Texas horizon, and drones that resonate like leaves in an endless Indiana woodland. It's a sound that's both beautiful and slightly haunting – a sound that encompasses the listener and demands attention. This is music to get lost in. Zach and Damien can both be considered veterans of ambient drone by now, and the five composition on Ash present a rarefied ”complex simplicity”. With few means they manage to create sonic and compositional depth, on par with classics of the genre from the likes of William Basinski, Brian Eno and Stars of the Lid. The CD version of ”Ash” includes the previous album ”Agape”, which hasn't been previously released on CD. Orchestral Tape Studies II
by zakè June 13, 2023 160g LP + Download Card, 3 color variants C456 Cassette + Digital Download About___ Orchestral Tape Studies II is an enthralling amalgam of orchestral textures carefully crafted by zakè. It is a continuation of its predecessor, Orchestral Tape Studies which was released to high acclaim in 2019. Bringing forth pastoral meditations with becalmed, atmospheric intent, Orchestral Tape Studies II is a convincing display of beautiful scores primed for the self-reflective moments that are both contemplative and thought provoking. These delicate repetitions, reticent sound treatments, and recurrent tape-based loops demand focused listening in a quiet environment. Review___ “It has been some five years since US ambient maestro zake dropped the first volume of his Orchestral Tape Studies. We're glad to finally have the second installment in the series available because there has rarely been music as cathartic and soothing as this on our shelves. It's made from drones, field recordings and richly layered movements of fragmented orchestral loops." -Juno Records |

Drift
by zakè & Tyresta June 2, 2023 180g LP + Download Card 2 color variants (EU/US Pressings) About___ A formal collaborative effort long past due, PITP personnel zakè and Tyresta finally converge together to bring forth a collection of arrangements titled, 'Drift'. Drift delves into the depths of patient and reflective music which is woven together by a tapestry of delicate textures and subtle melodies. From the very first notes of the opening track, it becomes evident that Drift is a journey meant to be experienced with undivided attention. The strength of Drift lies in its ability to create a sonic space where time seems to slow down. Each track is carefully crafted to instill a sense of peace, gracefully floating amidst billowed phonic pleasantries. Tracks like ‘Monuments at Sea’ and ‘Reason to Believe’ exhibit a remarkable command of sound design and a keen ear for sonic detail. The patient pacing of the album allows for the nuances and subtleties of each texture to shine through, creating a poignant and introspective atmosphere. It's a prime example of how the artists masterfully combine simplicity with depth. PITP and ZDR does it again; this time combining an incredible 'trio de force' consisting of zakè, Markus Guentner, and James Bernard. Introducing 'Pyramiden'; a declaration of ambient excellence that will no doubt be held with the highest regards for generations to come. These eight arrangements take the listener on a journey to the most remote places, finding comfort in the beauty of stillness, awe-inspiring landscapes, and illuminated nights of wonder. The tracklist may suggest a cold, lonely affair with titles such as, 'Polar Night', 'Seafrost', and 'Arctic Choir' but it is quite the contrary. Even in the coldest of times and places, warmth has its place and purpose. Warmth in this case could quite possibly be hope. An incredible array of textures and layers permeate throughout Pyramiden with impeccable beauty and pure resonance.." -Juno Records |

Deep into the unknown, we shall endlessly roam
by zakè January 27, 2023 Limited Edition Cassette + Digital About___ ‘Deep into the unknown, we shall endlessly roam’ is a collection of arrangements created primarily by the use of analog tape and archaic tape devices. These repetitive themes hang in perpetuity, while seldom wavering from its original aural expression. zakè reshaped and produced foundational tape loops using an obsolete VSC Soundpacer, while complementing the loops with field recordings captured by a time-worn, Sony M-570V microcassette voice recorder. Other elements of these recordings were further rendered by the use of an Akai GX-270D Reel-To-Reel, a gift given by close friend and sound artist, Isaac Helsen. “Deep into the unknown, we shall endlessly roam” is dedicated to those who continue to yearn for greater understanding. Allow this to be a phonic accompaniment in your life’s personal journey.” Credits___ Written, recorded, produced and mixed at Kaleidoscope Tone Studio by zakè Mastered at AMH by James Bernard Expired polaroid photo cover by zakè ©℗ 2023 Zakè Drone Recordings This is ZD-LOOP2 | MMXXIII zakedronerecordings.com zakedrone.com |
